I'm Mike on the left. That's John Joyes of State of the Art Tattoo Studio in Winchester, Va. needling away on my elbow on the right. My wife Cathy and I set up a web page about tattoos because tattoos interest us. Sometimes we talk about what motivates us to get ink, but we're not looking for common themes or ultimate truths. We recognize that people get tattoos for all sorts of reasons.

Mostly, our web page offers a lot of tattoo pictures. Use the menu on the left to see tattoos with lots of color as well as fine black and grey work. You may also use the menu to see many pictures of tattoo artists and their work, and tattoos and artists at work at the 1996-2005 Richmond Tattoo Conventions. We have a large Guest Section with many creative tattoos, a section about Bike Week in Key West that includes a local tattoo contest, and a look at aggressively public ink. I've recently added a section on the banners of tattoo artists, which you'll find when you visit our Richmond Convention area.

Some of the folks you will see on this site have just a bit of ink; many of the folks have a lot. Often, the tattoos you will see here were done by well-known artists, but in some instances you'll see tattoos done by artists known only to their friends.
