KEITH

Much of my work is by the late Sailor Moses of California Tattoo Studio in Biloxi, Mississippi. Here's a picture of Sailor and me at the 1996 Richmond Tattoo Arts Festival. Sailor was well-known and highly regarded. He will be missed by many.

Sailor did the koi fish on my back in Richmond in 1996. He filled in with water to extend my coverage to some other work you'll see below.

Here's another picture...

The Japanese symbols on the right in the picture above, Sailor told me, reflect his name in that language.

Sailor also did the dragon on my chest. It is coverup of an earlier piece that I wasn't proud of. I liked Sailor's style and the Oriental look. The dragon took eight and a half hours of needle work in one sitting to complete. Sailor added the border later in Baltimore.

John Joyes of State of the Art Tattoo in Winchester, Virginia, did the sun face shown below. Sailor filled in the water around it. I got the idea for the face from a Grateful Dead t-shirt. I liked the detail shown in the glasses.

Here's another picture...

The cyclops skull in the bottom of the picture below originally stood alone. John Joyes did the jester to fill the arm out. It's flash...but I'm a Grateful Dead fan...I guess I just like skulls.

By the time the 1999 Richmond Tattoo Convention rolled around, Keith was ready for more ink...this time on his leg. Here's Keith's design, adapted from a Gradeful Dead Almanac, after being stenciled on.

Keith's artist is Deadhead Bob Montagna from Malaga, New Jersey.

Here are some close-ups of Keith's needlework.

And the final piece...

John Joyes added the leopard to Keith's leg at the Richmond Tattoo Convention....

and the following year added this design on Keith's arm.

Bald Bill did a lot of Grateful Dead shoulder work.

Keith recently had his nipple pierced at Exposed Tempatation Tattoo Studio in Manassas, VA.
